In 2009, after living abroad in New York and Sydney, Australia for more than 30 years, Jeni Saeyang returned to her native Shanghai with her young family to help take care of her aging grandmother. She brought with her a love and understanding of “green, organic and sustainable” living and soon found that Shanghai, and China was in dire need of people and products that are committed to the environment. Having only used chemical free home care and personal care products in Australia, they were virtually impossible to find in Shanghai. As a result of being alarmed at the number of harmful chemicals found in everyday household products; Eco & More was born. Jeni went to work sourcing healthier products, with no toxic or unnecessary chemicals, and found that almost all such products were imported making them too costly for most people, and especially mothers, to be able to enjoy their benefits. Jeni believes that for green products to really make a positive impact on both the people and the environment, they need to be affordable, readily available and work just as well as mainstream brands.
Jeni got expert help to start developing cleaning products with a philosophy of ‘safety first’ that continues today – if there’s any doubt about the safety of an ingredient for people’s health as well as the environment, a safer alternative must be found.
