The story of Coconom began from a passion (half a decade ago) to explore the health paradigm and food habits of our ancestors who thrived in well-being and experienced a more harmonious existence with the earth.
At this point in time, when contradiction and confusion rule our dietary approaches, the food choices of traditional peoples informed by cultural wisdom passed down from generation to generation, began to make much more sense for one girl on a mission to learn how to thrive more in our modern world.
Following a merry chase across South East Asia, Michelle (co-founder and coconut “nut”) became completely enamoured with one dietary practise of traditional people in particular, the coconut palm tree. (And things would never be quite the same again!)
During her stay in Indonesia, Michelle witnessed first hand how tight-knit communities regard farming as a spiritual act — applying only the most respectful treatment to the crops and offering the finest products to their customers. She thus began to understand the importance of the entire cycle of food supply and the natural connection between healthy soil, healthy plants and healthy people.
In awe of this indigenous sovereignty, it was clear what her next move was to be; Her passion for coconut products could be combined and blended into a significant force for feeding sustainable income streams in one direction and helping people revive their connection to the planet, in the other – one coconut “co” creation at a time.
