Choice Organics was founded in 1991 by Martin Freemantle.
Having grown up in rural Hampshire on a 1000 acre mixed farm (now part of Jody Scheckter’s biodynamic operation) Martin was exposed to the ‘culture of agriculture’ from an early age. By the age of 17 he’d already opened his own farm shop and had even started a wholesale division supplying restaurants with high quality conventional produce and rare varieties. The business expanded rapidly, and Martin’s expertise with After a few successful years Martin sold the business and moved to London to work in New Covent Garden Market. It was here that he realised the demand for organic produce was not being met, sowing the seeds for Choice Organics, which he set up in 1991.
As the business grew through the 90’s, Martin established firm partnerships with the best organic growers in the UK and Europe, many of whom now plant crops exclusively for Choice Organics, and built an equally strong portfolio of clients keen to access the best possible quality.produce saw him supply demanding customers such as Marco Pierre White’s Yew Tree restaurant.
